GRILLED BURGERS WITH HORSERADISH SAUCE
These burgers are a twist on the traditional backyard favorite. A dollop of dill and horseradish dressing gives extra bite to this standard. - In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, dill, onion, pickle relish and horseradish; cover and refrigerate. In another bowl, combine the first eight burger ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into six 1/2-in.-thick patties., Grill patties, covered, over medium-hot heat for 3-4 minutes on each side or until meat is no longer pink. Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato and horseradish sauce.

Since my hubby is from the horseradish capital of the world, I had to post this recipe! Found in the 1988 version of Favorite Foods from Century 21 (a cookbook I got from Grandma).

SPICY MARY BURGERS WITH HORSERADISH MAYO
All of the fixings of a bloody mary cocktail go into these spicy and savory hamburgers. Serve the burgers with sides of celery, pickled vegetables and olives - just like the drinks!

- In a bowl, combine tomato juice, egg, bread crumbs, dried tomato, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, hot sauce, and garlic, if you like. Add ground beef and gently mix with a fork just until ingredients are evenly blended.
- Divide meat mixture into 4 equal portions. With your hands, shape burgers into 3/4-inch thick patties. If making ahead, lay patties side by side on a plate, cover airtight, and chill up to 24 hours.
- Prepare a gas or charcoal grill for direct, medium-high heat (you can hold your hand 1 to 2 inch above the cooking grate only 3 to 4 seconds; visit Safeway.com for complete instructions).
- In a small bowl, blend mayonnaise and horseradish with a fork.
- Lay patties on well-oiled cooking grate; cover gas grill. Cook, turning once with a wide spatula, until meat is no longer pink in center (cut to test), about 10 minutes total. During the last minute of cooking time, place buns with cut sides down next to burgers and cook until toasted.
- Transfer buns to a platter and tuck burgers inside. Spread horseradish mayonnaise on buns and garnish to taste.

- In a bowl, using a fork, gently stir the ground sirloin with the horseradish, tomato paste, hot sauce, Worcestershire, celery seeds, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Using 2 lids from 1-quart takeout containers, press one fourth of the beef mixture into 4 perfect patties. Transfer to a plate. Repeat to form the remaining patties.
- Light a grill or preheat a grill pan. Season the patties lightly with salt and pepper. Grill over moderate heat, turning once, until medium rare within, 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer the burgers to the buns, top with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and cheese and serve.
