MINI HAWAIIAN BURGERS
These are excellent burgers for a backyard gathering! I came up with the dish while trying to find something new that my husband would enjoy. He had no idea they were turkey burgers, and now he asks for them all the time! -Kathleen Manasian, Whitmore Lake, Michigan

- Drain pineapple, reserving 1/2 cup juice. In a large bowl, combine pineapple, green onion, Worcestershire sauce and seasonings. Add turkey and chorizo; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into twelve 1/2-in.-thick patties. , Place on a broiler pan. Broil burgers 4 in. from heat 4-5 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 165°., Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix ketchup and reserved pineapple juice. Serve burgers on rolls with lettuce, tomato and ketchup mixture.

SLIDER-STYLE MINI BURGERS
These remind me of my favorite fast food restaurant's little burgers! Perfect appetizer to bring to a party!

- Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Mix together the ground beef and onion soup mix in a large skillet; cook and stir over medium-high heat until the beef is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink. Drain and discard any excess grease. Remove from heat. Stir the mayonnaise and Cheddar cheese into the ground beef mixture.
- Lay the bottoms of the dinner rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the cheese and beef mixture on the bottom half of each roll. Replace the tops. Cover with another sheet of aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the burgers are heated through and cheese melts, about 30 minutes. Serve with sliced pickles.

- Combine ground beef and Worcestershire sauce in medium bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly.
- Shape into twelve 1/2-inch thick mini patties.
- Combine sauce ingredients in small saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat.
- Place pineapple slices on rack in broiler pan so surface of pineapple is 3 to 4 inches from heat.
- Broil 3 to 4 minutes, turning once and brushing with sauce.
- Remove pineapple; keep warm.
- Place patties on rack in broiler pan so surface of beef is 3 to 4 inches from heat.
- Broil 7 to 8 minutes to medium (160°F) doneness, until not pink in center and juices show no pink color, turning halfway through and brushing with sauce.
- Season with salt, as desired.
- Cut each pineapple slice into thirds.
- Line bottom of each roll with lettuce; top with a burger, then with a pineapple piece.
- Close sandwiches.

SWEET HAWAIIAN MINI BURGERS
Steps:
- 1. Adult help needed: ADJUST the oven rack so the surface of the broiler pan is about 4 inches from the broiler. TURN the oven to the broiler setting.
- 2. PLACE the ground beef and Worcestershire sauce in a medium bowl. MIX lightly with a rubber spatula, but not too much. DIVIDE the beef mixture into 12 equal portions. SHAPE each portion into mini burgers about 1/2-inch thick. SET ASIDE on a baking sheet. WASH your hands thoroughly.
- 3. To make the sauce, PLACE the barbeque sauce, pineapple preserves and brown sugar in a glass 1-cup measuring cup. STIR with a spoon to mix well.
- 4. Adult help needed: PLACE the measuring cup in the microwave oven. MICROWAVE uncovered for 40 to 60 seconds or until hot. Careful! Measuring cup will be very hot! Using pot holders, STIR with a spoon. PLACE 1/3 cup of the sauce in a small bowl and SET ASIDE to serve with the cooked burgers. Use the remaining sauce for brushing in steps 5 and 6.
- 5. Adult help needed: LAY the pineapple slices on the rack in the broiler pan. BRUSH with some of the remaining sauce. PLACE the broiler pan in the oven. BROIL 2 minutes. Careful! Broiler pan will be very hot! Using pot holders, REMOVE the broiler pan and TURN the pineapple slices over with metal tongs. BRUSH with more of the sauce. BROIL 2 minutes more. Using pot holders, REMOVE the broiler pan. PLACE pineapple slices on a plate and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
- 6. Adult help needed: PLACE the burgers on the same broiler pan. PLACE the broiler pan in the oven. BROIL 4 minutes. Careful! Broiler pan will be very hot. Using pot holders, REMOVE the broiler pan and TURN the burgers over with a metal spatula. BROIL 3 to 4 minutes more, until the burgers are no longer pink in center and juices show no pink color. The burgers are done when a food thermometer stuck into the burgers reads 160 degrees. Using pot holders, REMOVE the broiler pan. BRUSH the burgers with the rest of the sauce.
- 7. Adult help needed: While the burgers are cooking, use a sharp knife and cutting board to carefully SLICE the rolls in half. CUT each pineapple slice into 3 equal pieces. TEAR the lettuce leaves into smaller pieces to fit in the rolls.
- 8. PLACE the sliced rolls on a serving platter. LAY some lettuce on the bottom of each roll. PUT a burger on top of the lettuce, then TOP the burger with a pineapple piece. PLACE the roll top on the pineapple and PRESS down slightly to hold the bun in place. SERVE with the sauce that was set aside in step 4.
