Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F.
- Sift the flour and salt together into a bowl Add the lard and cut together with a pastry cutter. Use a fork to stir in the buttermilk gently. Gently knead the dough a few times, adding more flour if you need to.
- Roll out the dough and cut out biscuits with a small round cutter. Place on baking sheets and bake for 10 minutes. Brush with butter when you remove them from the oven.
- Serve with slices of Christmas ham.

Steps:
- Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Add the water and mix in lightly.
- Knead on a board 4 or 5 times.
- Pat down to 1/2" thickness.
- Cut out small circles 1" to 1 1/2" (I used a campange flute).
- Bake on a lightly sprayed cookie sheet or line with parchment paper.
- Bake in a 425F oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden.

- In a bowl, combine biscuit mix, cheese and garlic. With a fork, stir in milk just until moistened. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Combine butter and garlic powder; brush over biscuits.

- Starting with long side of 1 rectangle, roll dough tightly into 6 1/4-inch roll; press seam to seal. Repeat with remaining dough rectangles.
- Spray thin serrated knife with cooking spray. Cut each roll into 16 slices. On ungreased large cookie sheet, place 32 slices about 1/2 inch apart. Place remaining 32 slices on second ungreased large cookie sheet.
