GINGER SPICE CAKE WITH SAUTEED APPLES

Ginger Spice Cake with Sauteed Apples image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and lightly flour a 10-inch cake pan.
  • In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or using a hand mixer), combine the melted butter, egg, and sugar. Add the molasses and water and mix. In another bowl, sift the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, and cinnamon together. Working in batches, mixing after each addition, add the dry ingredients to the molasses mixture. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour into the prepared pan and bake in the center of the oven for about 35 minutes, until browned and the top of the cake feels dry and firm to the touch. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to completely cool.
  • For the topping: In a large skillet, melt 3 tablespoons of the butter over medium heat. Add the apple slices and cook, stirring, until tender, about 10 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons of the brown sugar and stir to combine. Cook a few more seconds to dissolve the brown sugar then pour it over the cake and serve.

Steps:

  • In large-holed colander, drain most liquid from pork and beans. Pour beans into baking dish and add onion, green pepper and tomato; mix gently.
  • In small bowl, combine brown sugar and Vernors and stir until sugar is dissolved. Pour evenly over bean mixture and bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes, until bubbly.

Vernors Bundt Cake With Vernors Glaze image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 10-inch tube or 12-cup Bundt pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars. Blend in eggs, vanilla and rum extract. Add Vernors.
  • In another large bowl toss together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves.
  • Add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Spoon into prepared pan. Bake until the cake springs back when lightly pressed (45 minutes for sheet pan and 60 minutes for the tube or Bundt pan).
  • Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan. Cool thoroughly on a rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar. The (9-by-13-inch) cake may be served from the pan.

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line bottom of a greased 9-in. round baking pan with parchment; grease paper., In a large bowl, beat butter, maple syrup and brown sugar until blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, whisk flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, allspice, nutmeg and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition (batter may appear curdled)., Transfer to prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 50-55 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack; remove paper. Cool completely. If desired, serve with whipped cream and additional maple syrup.
