THE REAL LONG ISLAND ICED TEA

There are a few impostors out there that claim to be Long Island Iced Teas. In actuality, there is only one correct way to make a LIIT... and this is it!

The REAL Long Island Iced Tea image

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec, and sour mix over ice; cover and shake. Pour cocktail into a Collins or hurricane glass; top with splash of cola for color. Garnish with a lemon slice.

½ fluid ounce vodka
½ fluid ounce rum
½ fluid ounce gin
½ fluid ounce tequila
½ fluid ounce triple sec (orange-flavored liqueur)
1 fluid ounce sweet and sour mix
1 fluid ounce cola, or to taste
1 lemon slice

VICTORIAN FARMHOUSE ICED TEA

Definitely something the girls will love on a warm summer afternoon, sitting in the lawn chairs in dappled shade--watching the grass grow! Switch out the juice for a different flavor and have some variety! *Taste of Home* does it again!! (note: cooking time is "chilling" time)

Victorian Farmhouse Iced Tea image

Steps:

  • Place teabags in a large measuring cup, pour boiling water over; steep for 5 minutes; remove tea bags.
  • Chill in a covered container.
  • AT SERVING TIME: combine juice and cold water in a 2 quart serving pitcher; pour in tea; stir.
  • SERVING SUGGESTIONS: serve over cubes or pour into punch bowl with an ice-ring.
  • Oh dahhling--this is just too, too!

4 individual tea bags
4 cups boiling water
1 (12 ounce) can frozen raspberry-cranberry frozen juice concentrate (thawed)
4 cups cold water
ice cubes or ice ring

  • Put teabags in container to steep with the boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags DO NOT PRESS bags to rid of excess moisture. Refrigerate tea in a covered container. just before serving, combine juice and cold water in 2-1/2 qt pitcher; stir in tea. Serve on ice. Garnish with mint
