SPICED APPLE BUTTER BARS
Give a nutty twist to your dessert by making these apple butter bars and pecans - dessert made using Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ spice cake mix.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Line 9-inch square pan with foil, leaving 2 inches of foil overhanging at 2 opposite sides of pan; spray foil with cooking spray.
- In large bowl, beat cake mix, butter and egg with electric mixer on low speed about 1 minute or just until crumbly. Stir in pecans, using hands if necessary. Reserve 1 cup mixture. Press remaining mixture in bottom of pan. Spread apple butter over crust. Crumble reserved pecan mixture over top.
- Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely in pan on cooling rack, about 2 hours. Use foil to lift out of pan. Cut into 5 rows by 4 rows.

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine dry cake mix and 11?2 packets of the cider mix. Add apple juice, 1?4 cup of the apple butter, the oil, and eggs; beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds. Scrape down sides of bowl; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, toss walnuts and dried apples with the remaining 1?2 packet cider mix; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, the remaining 3?4 cup apple butter, the brown sugar, and flour; beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.
- Remove pan from oven. Pour cream cheese mixture over partially baked cake. Sprinkle walnut and apple mixture on top. Return to oven; bake for 20 to 25 minutes more. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
ALLSPICED APPLE BUTTER

- Place the apples in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over low heat. Cook, uncovered, for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add the brown sugar and spices; continue cooking over low heat, stirring occasionally, until very thick, about 30 minutes more. To test for doneness, place a spoonful of the mixture on a white plate and let sit for 20 seconds. If a ring of liquid forms around the apples, there is still too much liquid in the mixture. Continue cooking and testing until no ring forms.

- Heat oven to 350°F. In medium bowl, combine cake mix and vanilla. Cut in 1/2 cup butter, using pastry blender (or pulling 2 table knives through mixture in opposite directions), until mixture is crumbly. Reserve 1 cup mixture for topping. In bottom of ungreased 8-inch square pan, press remaining crumb mixture. Bake 15 minutes. Meanwhile, stir walnuts, oats and melted butter into reserved crumb mixture.
- Spread apple butter evenly over partially baked crust to within 1 inch of edge. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture, pressing gently into apple butter.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until center is set. Cool in pan on cooling rack 1 hour. Sprinkle with additional chopped walnuts, if desired. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.
