PINECONE-SHAPED SPREAD
Spreading Christmas cheer is deliciously simple with this holiday novelty. Originally my mother's recipe, it always gets raves.

- In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, bacon, onion, dill and pepper; chill. Form into two pinecone shapes on a serving platter. Beginning at the narrow end of each shape, arrange almonds in overlapping rows. Garnish with rosemary if desired. Serve with crackers or vegetables.

- Preheat oven to 325°. In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, cream cheese, mustard and garlic pepper blend. Add Swiss cheese; mix well. Stir in onions, bacon, 1/4 cup almonds and cranberries. Spread into a greased 1- or 2-qt. baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup almonds. Place on a baking sheet., Bake, uncovered, until bubbly, 25-30 minutes. Serve warm with baguette slices.

- Bring to a boil; cook, uncovered, for 8-10 minutes or until crisp-tender.

- Fry the bacon. Let drain and crumble.
- Mix all ingredients. Bake in 350 degree preheated oven for about 15 minutes; until golden and bubbly. Top with some crushed almonds.
- For a twist, put the cold dip in pre-packaged phyllo cups and bake for about 15 minutes.

Steps:
- Brown bacon in a large skillet over medium low heat.
- Stirring often, render out 1 tbsp fat.
- Set aside large skillet.
- Place the 1 tbsp bacon fat into a medium skillet.
- Add onions and saute over medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Add cinegar, sugar pepper and salt.
- Cook and stir for 10 minutes.
- Place cooked onion mixture into the bacon in the large skillet.
- Cook bacon over low heat for 3 hours, stirring occasionally, until most liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat, puree, let cool
- Keep refrigerated for up to 3 weeks.
- Makes 2 cups.

Cut slices in half; place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 8-10 minutes or until bubbly. Freeze option: Place unbaked appetizers in a single layer on a baking sheet; freeze for 1 hour.
