Steps:

  • Place the metal rack in your cooker and add 1/2 cup of water (I used 1 cup as the manufacturer of my electric cooker recommends).
  • If your cooker is large enough you can bend the racks around in a circle. Otherwise cut into sections and stand them upright in the cooker.
  • Lock the lid in place.
  • Bring to 15psi (high pressure in electric cooker) and cook for 12 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and use quick release method to depressurize.
  • When pressure drops, carefully open lid and use long tongs to remove ribs.
  • Cover with sauce by dipping in sauce in a shallow pan, or basting well as you broil or BBQ the ribs to complete.

BEST PRESSURE COOKER STICKY BBQ RIBS EVER

It's time to give back to the Allrecipes community for all they have given to me. This recipe is the culmination of learning how to make BBQ ribs for competition, plus learning from my family members who are all pressure cooker experts. The end result, after years of trial and error, will have everybody licking their fingers in complete ecstasy. You can save a few teaspoons of BBQ sauce, throw it into 2 boxes of mac and cheese, and serve the ribs alongside.

Steps:

  • Pour apple cider into an 8-quart multi-functional electric pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) to about 1/2 inch below the rack line. Stir in garlic powder, salt, paprika, and pepper. Place rack inside and heat the liquid completely; place ribs on rack.
  • Close and lock the lid. Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 27 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking pan with a roasting rack.
  • Pour about 2 cups BBQ sauce into a large cup. Add garlic, brown sugar, and chili sauce. Mix with a hand blender until completely smooth. Combine with the remaining BBQ sauce in a large bowl. Set aside to come to room temperature.
  • Release pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove ribs carefully and drain cooking liquid. Fully submerge each rib into the BBQ sauce. Place on the roasting rack so they are not touching. Brush extra BBQ sauce on top to make them extra sticky.

PRESSURE COOKER SAUCY BABY BACK RIBS - FAST & EASY

These ribs cook up fast and the meat melts in your mouth! I've only used beef ribs, my husband's preference, but you certainly could substitute pork ribs. The nutritional values would change. I adapted this recipe from a favorite slow cooker recipe. These are very saucy ribs, messy and delicious! My husband calls them AWESOME!

Steps:

  • With a rack bone side up, and starting at one end, slip a knife tip under the translucent membrane, loosening it from the bone. Once you have lifted enough to get a good grip, grasp the membrane with a paper towel and peel it off the rack (or ask your butcher to do this). Repeat with the remaining rack(s). Cut the rack(s) in half crosswise.
  • Stack the ribs in the Instant Pot. Pour in the apple juice and vinegar. Secure the lid and move the Pressure Release to Sealing. Select the Meat/Stew setting and set the cooking time for 20 minutes at high pressure. (For meat-falling-off-the-bone ribs, set the cooking time for 25 minutes.)
  • Let the pressure release naturally for 15 minutes. While the pressure is releasing, preheat the oven to 400° F and line a sheet pan with aluminum foil or a silicone baking mat.
  • When 15 minutes have passed, move the Pressure Release to Venting to release any remaining steam. Open the pot and, using a pair of tongs, transfer the ribs to the prepared sheet pan. Discard the cooking liquid.
  • Brush the ribs on both sides with the barbecue sauce, then bake for about 10 minutes, until the sauce is a caramelized and browned. Remove from the oven, cut the ribs apart, and serve.

1 or 2 racks baby back ribs, 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 pounds total
4 cups apple juice
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup favorite barbecue sauce

  • Pressure Cook Baby Back Ribs: Add 2 – 3 drops of liquid smoke in Instant Pot (optional). Add in 1 cup (250ml) of cold water (or apple cider vinegar) and a trivet. • Apply Sauce and Broil in Oven/Air Fryer: Carefully set the ribs on an oven tray or chopping board, then generously brush your BBQ sauce all over the ribs on all sides. *Note: You can use an oven, toaster oven, Instant Pot Duo Crisp or Air Fryer Lid for this finishing caramelization step. *Pro Tip: If you have a large oven, you can finish the ribs in one batch. If you're using the Duo Crisp lid or Air Fryer lid, cut the ribs into halves, then finish them in 2 batches. *Pro Tip: It's best to broil the ribs before cutting it into serving size to retain more moisture.Option 1 - Oven/Toaster Oven: Place the BBQ Ribs on an oven tray under the "Broil" function (or the highest temperature setting) for a few minutes until the BBQ sauce is caramelized.Option 2 - Air Fryer Lid: Place air fryer basket with the tray on the middle rack in Instant Pot. PRESSURE COOKER BABY BACK RIBS RECIPE - PLAYS WELL WITH BUTTER

From playswellwithbutter.com
  • Add all listed dry rub ingredients to a small bowl. Stir to combine. Set aside, or store in an airtight container on your spice rack for up to 1 month.
  • There will be a thin membrane on the back of the ribs (“silverskin”) that needs to be removed – otherwise the dry rub won’t penetrate the meat all around the ribs & your ribs will be difficult to chew! I find it’s easiest to use a butter knife (something with a blunt edge that is not sharp) to work the silverskin off the ribs in 1 spot. From there, slide your finger under the membrane & the silverskin should pull off very easily. Reference the photos provided in the blog post above if you need a visual. I also found this simple video tutorial to be very helpful!
  • Generously season the ribs all over with kosher salt, then sprinkle the dry rub all over the ribs, using your hands to lightly work the rub into the meat.

  • If your ribs come with a membrane layer, peel/slice it off the best you can (it’s fine if you don’t get it all)
  • Take the ribs and coil them so they fit in the Instant Pot lined against the perimeter of the pot. The 6qt should be able to handle up to 1.5 racks of ribs where the 8qt can handle 2 full racks. If you wish to cut each rack in half before inserting for easier removal once cooked, feel free to do so

Pour 1/2 cup of water into the pressure cooker pot (or use the minimum liquid amount for your pressure cooker). Stack the ribs in the pressure cooker bone side down. Lock the pressure cooker lid.
  • Pressure cook on high pressure for 25 minutes in an electric pressure cooker or 20 minutes in a stovetop PC. (“Manual” or “Pressure Cook” mode in an Instant Pot.) After the cooking time, let the pressure come down naturally until the pressure valve drops, about 15 more minutes.
  • Put the ribs bone side down on a rimmed baking sheet. Broil the ribs until the meat starts to crackle and brown, about 5 minutes. Remove the ribs from the broiler and serve.

  • Clean, wash the Baby Back Ribs and dry with paper towel. Remove the white membrane from the back of the ribs with a knife. Use butter knife and paper towel; membrane might be slipping through the fingers. Cut the ribs in sections, about 4-5 ribs at a time.
  • Preheat oven 450 F/232 C and brush over the ribs 3/4 of the homemade smokey BBQ sauce. Bake on middle rack, for 20 minutes or until the sauce starts to caramelize. At the end brush over the ribs the rest of the BBQ sauce and let stand on the counter for 5-10 minutes. Serve with your favourite side.
  • Reheat BBQ on medium heat, place baby back ribs directly on the BBQ and brush the ribs lightly with BBQ sauce. Turn the ribs on other side, but only once the BBQ sauce lightly starts to caramelize (in about 1-2 minutes). Turn the ribs 3-4 times. If your ribs are already so tender and starts to fall apart, then brush the ribs once and turn them only once. Finishing the ribs with last touch of BBQ sauce before serving
