Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Brown ground beef and onion in medium skillet. Cool.
- Spray 13x9x2 pan with cooking spray. Layer half the beef mixture, half the potatoes, and half the fries. Repeat layers.
- In a bowl, mix the remaining ingredients. Pour over beef/potato mixture.
- Bake, uncovered, for 60 minutes.

I finally made this for DH the other night after hearing the (basic)recipe for years! Only wish I had made it years ago! REALLY good! (I make it a little bit different).

Steps:
- In lightly greased 13x9-inch pan, break up (raw)hamburger evenly onto bottom of pan.
- Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. Gently press beef into pan but don't press hard. You don't want it to be compact and come out hard.
- Evenly spread with soup, undiluted.
- Top evenly with tater tots. You'll have just a few left over.
- Bake in 375º oven, uncovered, for 35 minutes.
- Cool 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Additions:.
- Top beef with 1 can french-cut green beans, drained. (Then top with soup.).
- Top soup with Sargento 4-Blend Mexican cheese, shredded, 2 cups (then top with tater tots).

- Dice onion. Brown hamburger meat and onion, add cajun salt, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste. Drain any grease.

- Preheat oven to 350'.
- Press the ground beef into the bottom of a 13x9x2 baking pan. Sprinkle with onion soup mix.
- Spread the mushroom soup over the top. Cover with the frozen tater tots.
- Bake 50 minutes. Turn off oven. Remove casserole sprinkle with the shredded cheddar. Place back in oven, keep in oven for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Take out of oven, let sit for 5 minutes before slicing.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare a 13x9-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
- Spread 20 potato nuggets in the casserole dish.
- Bake in preheated oven until warmed through, about 10 minutes.
