  • Mix only enough to blend.

  • Cut into squares.
  • Can easily be doubled and baked in 13x9" pan.

  • Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  • Measure flour, salt and baking powder in bowl and stir to blend, set aside.
  • Melt butter in small saucepan over low heat, remove from stove. Stir in brown sugar.
  • Blend in egg, vanilla and orange zest.
  • Add flour mixture to the butter mixture.
  • Stir in coconut and dates.
  • Spread mixture into a greased 7"x 11" pan.
  • Bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and cool before cutting in small squares.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, almonds, 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, and 1 tsp orange zest.
  • Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  • Press into bottom of a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, orange juice, and extract.

Add almond mixture; stir well to combine, until sugar is moist and mixture coats almonds. Sprinkle almonds over coconut layer. BAKE 15 to 20 minutes or until tips of coconut begin to brown and almonds are lightly toasted. Cool slightly.
