This cornmeal crust is the perfect shell for our Tamale Pies.

Steps:
- Whisk cornmeal with 1 1/2 cups cold water.
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 1/2 cups water, salt, and pepper to a boil.
- Gradually stir in cornmeal mixture. Reduce heat; simmer, stirring often, until very thick, 4 to 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat; stir in butter until melted.

Steps:
- In a mixing bowl, combine meat, mushrooms, egg, onion, breadcrumbs, 1/4 teaspoon salt,and pepper, and mix lightly.
- Press mixture onto bottom, and sides of a 9 inch pie plate.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
- Mash potatoes, and milk together.
- Stir cheese, Parsley, and 1/8 teaspoon salt into mashed potatoes.
- Remove meat shell, from oven. Spoon or drain off any fat.
- Reduce heat to 350 degrees.
- Fill meat shell with potato mixture.
- Return to oven. Continue baking for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
- Serve with brown gravy.

- Bring potatoes to a boil in salted water. Simmer 15 minutes or until tender. Drain well and mash.
- While potatoes are cooking, brown ground beef, pork, onion, and garlic until no pink remains using a spoon to break it up. Add remaining ingredients (including mashed potatoes) except for pie crust and bread crumbs.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes or until thickened. Add 1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs to help the mixture hold together if needed. Cool for 20 minutes.
