- In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in butter until combined. Press into an ungreased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 10-11 minutes or until puffed and edges are lightly browned. , Meanwhile, prepare brownie mix according to package directions for cakelike brownies. Spread batter over crust. Bake 25-30 minutes longer or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean., For frosting, in a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Immediately stir in the confectioners' sugar, 2 tablespoons water and vanilla until smooth. Add remaining water as desired; stir until smooth. Immediately spread over brownies. Cool on a wire rack until firm. Cut into 36 bars.

With wheat germ and oatmeal, I wasn't sure how good these would be... but they are one of the best chocolatey brownie recipes I've tasted outside of a box mix!! I got the recipe off allhomemadecookies.com and wanted to save it here.

- Melt chocolate chips and butter in the microwave about 45 seconds; stirring occasionally until completely melted; set aside.
- Combine the dry ingredients, except for sugar, in a bowl.
- In another large bowl, beat egg whites with sugar and vanilla until slightly thick.
- Stir in chocolate mixture and then the dry ingredients.
- Spread into an 8-inch square baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
- Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes; until edges are firm and top is crisp.
- Cool completely before cutting into bars.

- Preheat oven to 350 and butter an 8 x 8 pan.
- Melt butter in a glass bowl in the microwave.
- Meanwhile, process oatmeal in a food processor or clean coffee grinder for a few moments till it is more flour-like.
- Add the cocoa to the melted butter and mix well.
- Stir in the sugar.
- Stir in the egg.
- Stir in the oat flour and vanilla.
- The batter will be rather stiff. Spread it evenly in the buttered pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease 8X8X2 inch pan.
- Melt chocolate with margarine in small heavy saucepan over very low heat or in double boiler.
- Remover from heat; blend. Reserve.
- Combine oats, wheat germ, nonfat dry milk, baking poder, salt (you can add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts if you like) in medium size bowl. Mix well. Reserve.
- Beat eggs in medium size bowl until light.
- Gradually beat in both sugars and vanilla until mixture is thick.
- Stir in chocolate mixture; fold in oat mixture. Spread batter in pan.
- Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean and the top is crips and edges firm.
- Cool in pan on rack. Cover with foil, and refrigerate overnight.

- Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Butter a 20cm square tin and line with baking parchment. Melt the butter and chocolate in a large heatproof bowl in 30-second bursts in the microwave until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Alternatively, set the bowl over a pan of simmering water, ensuring the base doesn't touch the water, and stir until smooth. Leave to cool slightly.
- Whisk the sugar and eggs together in a bowl using an electric whisk until the mixture has doubled in volume and a ribbon holds for 3 seconds when you lift out the beaters. Scrape the cooled chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, and fold gently until well-combined.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour and a pinch of salt. Mix to combine, then fold in most of the milk chocolate, pretzels and nuts, reserving some for the top. Scrape the batter into the prepared tin and scatter with the reserved chocolate, pretzels and nuts. Bake on the middle shelf of the oven for 25 mins until just set with a shiny top and gentle wobble in the middle. Leave to cool completely in the tin, then slice and serve.

- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9×13 inch pan or line with aluminum foil or parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to lift the finished brownies out (makes cutting easier!). Set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and 2 ounces of chopped chocolate. Melt in 30 second increments, whisking after each, until completely smooth. Whisk in the sugar until completely combined, then whisk in the eggs and vanilla. The batter will be light brown and a little dull looking.
- Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, remaining 2 ounces of chopped chocolate and the chocolate chips. Fold it all together with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon. Batter will be very thick. Spread evenly into prepared pan.
- (See note about how to tell if brownies are done in the post above.) Bake for 30 minutes, then test the brownies with a toothpick. Insert it into the center of the pan. If it comes out with wet batter, the brownies are not done. If there are only a few moist crumbs, the brownies are done. Keep checking every 2 minutes until you have moist crumbs. My brownies take 31-32 minutes.
