Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 7 minutes. Drain and toss in a bowl with olive oil; refrigerate until cooled, about 15 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray 12 muffin cups with cooking spray.
  • Toss cooled spaghetti with 1 cup Parmesan cheese. Divide spaghetti between the 12 prepared muffin cups, arranging noodles in each cup to create "nests" for the meatballs.
  • Top each "nest" with 1 tablespoon pasta sauce, 1 meatball, and 1 more tablespoon pasta sauce, respectively. Sprinkle remaining Parmesan cheese over the tops of each meatball "nest."
  • Bake in the preheated oven until pasta and meatballs are heated through and cheese melts, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool slightly before transferring muffin bites to a serving platter.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line the bottom of a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • Flatten each roll into a 6-inch round. Onto each flattened roll, add a half slice of provolone, 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce, a meatball and, finally, a slice of the deli peppers.
  • Fold opposite sides of each roll up and over the meatball, pinching them together. Continue folding and pinching the sides together until the meatball and filling are completely encased in the dough. Place seam-side down onto the prepared sheet pan.
  • Mix together the olive oil, Parmesan and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Brush the top of each roll with the mixture. Bake until golden and crisp, 16 to 18 minutes. Serve with warm marinara on the side.

12 frozen dinner rolls, thawed and risen
6 slices provolone, halved
3/4 cup marinara sauce, plus more for serving
12 frozen Italian meatballs, thawed
1/2 cup sliced deli peppers

1 tablespoon grated Parmesan
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes

20 BEST MEATBALL APPETIZERS - INSANELY GOOD

Published Dec 23, 2021
Category Appetizers, Recipe Roundup
  • Lil’ Smokies and Meatballs Appetizer. This scrumptious, protein-packed appetizer is perfect for when a single meat just won’t do. All you’ll need to make it are little smokies, frozen meatballs, BBQ sauce, chili sauce, grape jelly, and a Crockpot or slow cooker.
  • Slow Cooker Bourbon Meatballs. If you’re looking for a Crockpot meatball appetizer with a smokier, more savory flavor, try these bourbon meatballs instead.
  • Meatball Sliders. These meatball sliders are a cheesy, saucy mess, but you’ll love every last bite. If you’re looking for a fun, individualized way to serve your guests a delicious Italian treat, give these little sliders a try.
  • Swedish Meatballs. It seems crazy that Ikea – a popular home furnishings store – is so well-known for its phenomenal Swedish meatballs, but hey, we live in a crazy world!
  • Sticky Thai Meatballs. These meatballs may be sticky and just a touch messy, but if you’re in the market for Asian-flavored meatballs with an incredible sweet and savory sauce, these fit the bill.
  • Tangy Glazed Meatballs. You’ll make the glaze for these juicy meatballs from ketchup, A1 steak sauce, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and the secret ingredient: mango chutney.
  • Hawaiian Meatballs. I’m not sure why – maybe it’s the pineapple chunks – but these Hawaiian meatballs always remind me of Panda Express’ Sweetfire Chicken (only with meatballs instead).
  • Mini-Meatball Subs. These are similar to the meatball sliders above, but they have more going on with them. First of all, you’ll want to make homemade meatballs for these to get the best, richest flavor.
  • Meatball Flatbread. If you’ve ever wondered what a meatball pizza would taste like, you can now use this recipe to find out. You’ll construct your “meatball flatbread” – let’s be honest and just call it pizza – with Italian tomato sauce, carrots, fresh basil, garlic, mozzarella, Italian meatballs, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Sticky Asian Meatballs. Here’s another option if you enjoy sticky meatballs with a distinctly Asian flair. They’re super simple to make, taking only 30 minutes from start to finish.
