BLACK AND ORANGE VODKA

- You'll need 1 bottle (750 ml) vodka, 80 orange Skittles (from a 14-ounce bag) and a 7-ounce package of quality soft black licorice. Divide the vodka between two large glass jars; add the Skittles to one, then cut the licorice into smaller pieces and add to the other jar. Let the Skittles infuse for 1 day, then strain through a sieve lined with a coffee filter (it will take several hours to strain). Let the licorice infuse for 2 to 3 days, then strain. Serve the vodka on the rocks with candy garnishes.

Steps:
- Wash the oranges.
- Using a zester of vegetable peeler, peel the skin to create narrow ribbons.
- Scrape away any remaining pith.
- Put the peel into a large jar and add the vodka.
- Store in a dark, dry place for about 2 weeks, shaking the jar occasionally.
- Strain through cheesecloth, discard the peel and store in a bottle ready for use.

VODKA AND ORANGE

- Combine the orange juice and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Cook until reduced to 1 cup. Add the Grand Marnier and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate. (The orange syrup can be made up to 1 week in advance and stored in the refrigerator.)
- In each of 4 to 6 rocks glasses, stir together 2 tablespoons of the cold orange syrup and a shot of vodka. Add a scoop of ice and top off with club soda. Float a slice of orange on top of each drink and serve.
ORANGE-VODKA HERBAL COOLER
Steps:
- Bring the sugar and 2 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan over high heat, and cook until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat, and stir in the basil, mint, tarragon and orange peel. Let cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until cold, at least 4 hours and up to 24 hours.
- Strain the syrup into a pitcher, discarding the solids.
- Fill six tall glasses with crushed ice. Add a few tablespoons of the syrup to each, then stir in 2 tablespoons of the orange juice and a shot of vodka. Top off with club soda, and garnish with an orange twist and a mint sprig. Serve the remaining syrup to sweeten as desired; leftover syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
CRANBERRY-ORANGE VODKA

- Place cranberries, sugar and vanilla in a medium saucepan. Place pan over medium heat and stir. Simmer cranberry mixture until the berries burst, about 5 to 6 minutes.
- Place orange peels in a large glass container with an airtight lid, or large mason jars with lids. Pour vodka over the orange peels.
- Allow the cranberry mixture to cool. Pour the cooled mixture into the glass container(s). Cover tightly and set aside for 1 week. After 1 week, strain out the cranberries sand orange peels and pour mixture into a clean bottle, using a funnel. Store vodka in the refrigerator.
- To serve: Pour 2 ounces of vodka mixture over ice in a tall glass and top with tonic water. Garnish with a slice of lime.
