  • In a 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the first six ingredients. Stir in beef, pork, green peppers and onions. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender., Shred meat with two forks. Serve on buns, with lettuce and tomatoes if desired.

This recipe is from the Paula Deen cooking show on the TV Food Network. Originally shown for beef short ribs only, I have found it works as well with pork ribs. I have increased the amount of sauce ingredients - the original amounts didn't seem to be quite enough to really enjoy!

Steps:

  • Cut all ribs into serving size pieces Sprinkle ribs with salt (to taste) In a Dutch oven, brown ribs on all sides in veg oil over medium heat Remove ribs from pot Saute onions in pot until lightly browned Return ribs to pot Combine all remaining ingredients in a bowl and mix together- Add to pot Cover pot and cook over low heat for approx 2 hours, or until tender, stirring occasionally.

3 -4 lbs pork spareribs or 3 -4 lbs pork country-style pork ribs
1/2 cup minced onion
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
4 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons mustard (Dijon)
1/4 teaspoon salt (for the sauce)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Cut beef and pork into 3-inch pieces. Place beef, pork and remaining ingredients except tomato paste and buns in 4- to 5-quart slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • Remove beef and pork from cooker, using slotted spoon; place on cutting board. Strain liquid in cooker and return cooked vegetables to cooker. Shred meat, using 2 forks. Return meat to cooker. Stir in tomato paste. Increase heat setting to High. Cover and cook 10 to 15 minutes or until hot. To serve, spoon 1/3 cup meat mixture into each bun.

The BEST pork barbeque recipe available. It is a modified version of a long time secret pork barbeque recipe of a now out of business barbeque restaurant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It can be made the day that it is to be served, but the best is to cook it the day before, place it in the refrigerator overnight, and then heat it in the slow cooker the next day to serve. This way, it soaks up all of the added flavoring.

Steps:

  • In a bowl, mix the wine, white pepper, liquid smoke, garlic, black pepper, pepper sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Place pork in a slow cooker, and cover with the sauce mixture. Cover, and cook 4 to 5 hours on Low, or until the meat shreds easily.
  • Shred the pork with a fork. Mix in the barbeque sauce, onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and yellow bell pepper. Continue cooking 30 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
  • Place pork in a strainer to remove excess liquid, pushing down with a large spoon to extract as much moisture as possible. Liquid may be reserved as a dipping sauce.

The Best Barbecue Baked Beans image

Steps:

  • Add dry beans to a bowl, cover with water, and let soak for 8 hours, or overnight.
  • Drain beans and transfer to a large pot filled with 3 quarts of cold, fresh water. Add bay leaf, pork shoulder, and onion. Bring to a simmer over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir. Skim off foam if desired. Let simmer until beans are just tender, about 1 hour.
  • While beans simmer, combine barbecue sauce, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire, smoked paprika, cayenne, black pepper, kosher salt, and garlic powder in a bowl with a whisk. Set aside until needed.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Transfer tender bean mixture to a deep, 15x10-inch baking dish using a spider strainer. Pour in barbecue sauce mixture and 2 ½ cups of the bean cooking liquid. Place bacon slices on top.
  • Bake uncovered in the center of the preheated oven until the liquids have reduced into a thick sauce, 2 to 3 hours.
