Steps:
- In a stainless steel pot over medium-high heat, combine green beans, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Cook, covered, until the beans begin to sweat. Remove lid and stir occasionally until beans are tender.
- When the beans and spices have begun to 'burn' on the bottom of the pan, which will lend a grilled flavor, stir in the olive oil and turn off heat. Cover, and let stand a few minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pan to incorporate the 'burnt' spices. Beans should have a dark, caramel color, but not black.

SKILLET-CHARRED GREEN BEANS
These green beans with bagna cauda flavors make a wonderful accompaniment to any meat, fish or chicken dish. The beans are simple to cook and fairly effortless, so do resist the urge to stir too often. Allow them to sit, caramelize and shrivel to bring out all of their natural sweetness. Anchovies are tossed in at the end for a bright, salty hit that complements the sweet beans and shallots. These beans can be made ahead, and are equally delicious warm or at room temperature.

Steps:
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium. Add shallot and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic until fragrant, 1 minute. Using tongs or a slotted spoon, transfer mixture to a small bowl.
- Add the remaining 2 tablespoons oil to the skillet. Add green beans, season with salt and pepper and toss to evenly coat in the oil. Leave undisturbed over medium heat for 2 minutes to encourage charring, then stir and cook, tossing every 2 minutes, until most of the beans are shriveled, about 6 minutes longer.
- Reduce heat to low and add the shallot mixture and anchovies. Cook, stirring, until well incorporated and anchovies dissolve, about 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer to a serving platter and serve warm or at room temperature.

LOADED SKILLET TOASTED GREEN BEANS - HOW SWEET EATS
From howsweeteats.com
- Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add the bacon and shallots. Cook until the bacon is crispy and the shallots begin to brown, stirring occasionally, about 8 to 10 minutes minutes. Remove the mixture from the skillet and place it in a bowl while you cook the green beans.
- Add the green beans to the skillet. If there isn’t any bacon fat left, you can use butter or olive oil (about a tablespoon) to toast the beans. I find that the beans are seasoned enough with the bacon flavor and feta, but you can add some salt and pepper here if you like. Cook the beans over medium heat, stirring and tossing occasionally, until they are bright in color and cooked – but still slightly crunchy – about 5 to 6 minutes. Add the shallots and bacon back into the skillet and toss. Toss in the toasted almonds and feta.
