SLOPPY JOE UNDER A BUN

I usually keep a can of sloppy joe sauce in the pantry, because our kids love sloppy joes. But sometimes I don't have buns on hand. With this fun casserole, we can still enjoy the flavors that they love in a flash. The bun-like top crust is made with biscuit mix, sprinkled with sesame seeds and baked until golden. -Trish Bloom, Ray, Michigan

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook and crumble beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in sloppy joe sauce. Transfer to a lightly greased 13x9-in. baking dish; sprinkle with cheese. , In a large bowl, combine the biscuit mix, eggs and milk just until blended. Pour over cheese; sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Steps:

  • 1. Cook and stir beef and onion in large skillet until beef is cooked through and scrambled; drain. Stir in Manwich. Heat through. Remove from heat and set aside. Generously grease a 12 cup bundt cake pan. Mix together the Bisquick, milk, margarine and eggs; beat vigorously for 30 seconds. Spread 2 cups of the batter in bottom and about 2 inches up sides and center of pan(around tube). Spoon beef mixture evenly onto center of batter. Drop remaining batter by teaspoonfuls about 1/2 -inch apart onto beef mixture and spread to cover meat. Bake in 375^ oven about 25 minutes until light brown and firm. Invert on serving plate. Kids usually like this. --- Note: Just think of all the mixtures you can put inside of this batter! How about a Reuben, Want the recipe. Let me know. I got it.

  • • Heat oven to 350°F Generously spray 12-cup Bundt cake pan with cooking spray. Cook beef in a 10-inch skillet until brown; drain. Stir in sloppy joe sauce.
  • • Stir Bisquick, milk, butter and eggs together until well blended. Spoon about 2/3 of the mixture into the bottom and halfway up the side of the pan. Spoon meat over mixture. Cover with remaining Bisquick mixture.
  • • Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 5 minutes. Turn pan upside down onto heatproof plate; remove pan.

  • Start by browning the ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat. Drain off the fat.
  • Add in the green peppers and onions. Stir, and then add 1 cup water, the ketchup and garlic. Stir it around to combine, and then add the brown sugar, chili powder, dry mustard, red pepper flakes, and hot sauce, Worcestershire, salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine, and then cover and simmer over medium-low heat, about 20 minutes.

  • Heat the oil in a deep frying pan, then fry the onion, pepper and garlic for 8-10 mins until softened. Add the mince, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as you go, and stir until it browns all over. Tip in the tomatoes and chipotle, or barbecue sauce, and add a little seasoning.
