UPSIDE-DOWN APPLE-SPICE CAKE
A spiced- apple version of the classic pineapple upside-down cake we all know and love, Upside-Down Apple Spiced Cake features fresh chopped apples, toasted walnuts and a buttery brown-sugar sauce. Made easy and in only one hour thanks to Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ spice cake mix, you could actually serve this cake upside down and it would still be delicious!

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. In 13x9-inch pan, melt butter in oven. Sprinkle brown sugar and walnuts over butter; stir to combine. Sprinkle chopped apples in pan.
- Mix cake as directed on box for 13x9-inch pan, using water, oil and eggs. Pour batter over apples and walnuts in pan.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on cooling rack 2 minutes; run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake. Place heatproof serving plate upside down on pan; turn plate and pan over. Remove pan. Serve cake warm.

- Drain the apple rings, reserving 1 tablespoon syrup; set apple rings aside. In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter; stir in brown sugar and reserved syrup until smooth. Spread evenly in a greased 9-in. round baking pan; sprinkle with almonds. Top with apple rings; set aside. , In a large bowl, beat the egg, milk, vanilla and remaining butter. Combine flour, sugar and baking powder; gradually add to egg mixture until well blended. , Spoon over apple rings. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve warm. Serve with whipped cream if desired.

This is a super easy, semi-home made type of cake that I find is perfect for this time of year. With pumpkin and apples being used, two of fall's essential flavors are sealed inside this delicious, decadent dessert.

- 1. Grease and flour one 9" cake pan - this cake is NOT a double layer cake but just a single layer- and preheat oven to 350 degrees. .
- 2. Place butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a sauce pan and bring ingredients to a boil and allow to continue boiling for 30 seconds. Remove from heat and spread evenly over the bottom of your cake pan
- 3. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Sprinkle over your caramel evenly. Move on to mixing the cake.
- 4. Mix ALL cake ingredients together until thoroughly moistened. A few small lumps are all right, but no really large ones. :D The batter will be quite thick.
- 5. Spread batter over apples evenly, and place in oven. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and cake springs back after touched.
- 6. Let cool for 15 minutes or so, then loosen cake from the sides of the pan by sliding a butter knife along the edges. Tip over onto a plate and Enjoy! For further enjoyment, serve with freshly whipped cream spiced with a hint of cinnamon, sugar and vanilla and some caramel sauce for drizzling!

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cover the bottom of a 10x15-inch baking pan with brown sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Layer apple slices on top.
- Place flour, apple juice, white sugar, butter, eggs, milk, remaining 1 tablespoon cinnamon, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix until completely smooth, 5 to 10 minutes; the longer you mix, the fluffier the cake will be.
- Pour batter over apples in the baking pan, making sure they are evenly covered.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 45 to 55 minutes. Cool for 20 to 30 minutes. Place a large serving dish over the cake and carefully flip over.

- In a medium-sized pot over medium-low heat, stir together butter and brown sugar. Cook the mixture 3 to 4 minutes, until it becomes creamy and bubbles lightly. Remove pan from the heat.
