SUPER-EASY BUT TASTY PIZZA SAUCE

Simple ingredients from a minimalist approach. I've tried experimenting with other spices, etc. to get that "pizzeria taste", but this easy recipe surprisingly turned out the best by far. Does it have that "pizzeria taste"? I'm not sure, but we prefer this homemade recipe to take-out pizza.

Super-Easy but Tasty Pizza Sauce image

Steps:

  • Mix well all the ingredients over heat. It's not necessary to continue heating, just get it hot enough to help the ingredients mix, then remove heat (overheating tomatoes causes a chemical change and ruins the taste).
  • Just add more water for thinner sauce if preferred. Experiment with ingredient amounts for taste; I personally like a lot of oregano which makes all the difference.
  • Makes enough to cover one 16" pizza.

6 ounces tomato paste (not tomato sauce)
equal amount water
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 1/2 teaspoons oregano

I can only say thank you to the great chefs of Zaar for inspiring me to make pizza again. I tried several sauces EXCELLENT and dough recipes EXCELLENT and then told myself to come up with another sauce recipe to zip up in a hurry. Well here she is.

Steps:

  • in a heavy sauce pan, medium size coat bottom with olive oil, turning pan, heat on med heat.
  • add garlic and cook til just under brown.
  • add in remainder of ingredients minus S & P.
  • bring to boil, then simmer 30 min or until thickened to your liking.
  • add salt and pepper to taste.
  • spread on favorite pizza dough, add in all your favorite accoutrements and enjoy.
  • thid is a basic recipe, I have added in chunked tomatoes, slivered onions, shredded chicken, black olives, handful of parmesean cheese, and warmed through before preparing pie.

2 ounces red wine
2 teaspoons olive oil
3 -4 garlic cloves, crushed (3-4 Tbsp minced garlic)
