YOSHIDA'S TERIYAKI BURGER

A recipe from my Mr. Yoshida's Fine Sauces Cookbook which I haven't tried yet. Serve with your favorite burger goodies: sliced red onion, lettuce, tomato, ???

Yoshida's Teriyaki Burger image

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine beef, pepper, and 1/4 cup Gourmet Sauce.
  • Shape into 4 patties.
  • Grill burgers to desired doneness.
  • Grill pineapple rings then baste burgers and pineapple with remaining 1/4 cup sauce during last 1-2 minutes of grilling.
  • Place cheese on burgers, top each with a slice of pineapple and serve on a bun.

1 lb lean ground beef
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/2 cup Yoshida gourmet sauce
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple rings or 4 fresh pineapple rings
4 slices cheddar cheese or 4 slices swiss cheese
4 hamburger buns

MR YOSHIDA'S Teriyaki Burger image

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium heat.
  • Mix meat, pepper and 2 Tbsp. sauce just until blended. Shape into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) patties.
  • Grill 4 min.; turn. Add pineapple rings; grill 4 to 6 min. or until burgers are done (160ºF), turning pineapple and brushing with remaining sauce after 3 min.
  • Place burgers on bottom halves of buns; top with cheese and pineapple rings. Cover with tops of buns.

Teriyaki Turkey Burgers image

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the egg, bread crumbs, onions, 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce and onion powder. Crumble turkey over mixture and mix well. Shape into four 3/4-in. thick patties., Using long-handled tongs, moisten a paper towel with cooking oil and lightly coat the grill rack. Grill patties, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 6-8 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 165° and juices run clear. Brush with remaining teriyaki sauce during the last 5 minutes. , Grill or broil pineapple slices for 3-4 minutes on each side or until heated through. Serve burgers and pineapple on buns.

YOSHIDA TYPE SAUCE

This sauce is similar to the Yoshida sauce that can be found at costco and other stores. Note that this is not an exact copy but a very similar taste that can be made with ingredients that can be found in your kitchen and not a laboratory.

Yoshida Type Sauce image

Steps:

  • Combine soy sauce, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, green onions, ginger and garlic in a 2 quart saucepan. Bring the mixture to a slight boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Pour the remaining white and brown sugar and the honey into the saucepan. Bring to a boil. The mixture will rise and foam, when it does this and doubles in size remove the pan from heat and cool.

2 cups soy sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar, divided
3/4 cup white sugar, divided
8 green onions, cut into 1 1/2 inch sections
4 slices fresh gingerroot
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 cup honey

Teriyaki Turkey Burgers image

Steps:

  • Mix by hand the turkey, egg, bread crumbs, bell pepper, onion, garlic salt, black pepper and 1/4 cup of teriyaki sauce until well incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 eaqual parts and form them into patties.
  • Grill the burgers basting with the extra teriyaki sauce, takes 15-20 minutes.
  • When the burgers are almost done top with the cheese and throw the pineapple rings on the grill.
  • Take them off when the cheese is melted and take the pineapples off when you have nice grill marks on both sides.
  • **We butter the buns and toast them on the grill or toaster oven and we use mayo**.
  • ENJOY!
