Baked Cheese on Toast With Wine image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix the cheese, eggs and half the wine and spread the mixture over the bread.
  • Melt the butter in a heavy skillet large enough to hold all four slices.
  • Swirl in the remaining wine, then settle the bread into the pan. Add cayenne.
  • Bake until the cheese melts, 12 to 13 minutes.

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the Cheddar, Monterey Jack, mayonnaise, Parmesan, butter, salt, pepper and seasoned salt.
  • Cut the loaf in half lengthwise, then into thirds or fourths. Evenly spread the cheese mixture onto the bread pieces. Wrap each piece in a foil "purse," leaving a little room at the top between the cheese and the foil.
  • The bread can either be frozen for later, or baked right away. If baking right away, place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. If cooking from frozen, bake on a baking sheet at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Spread cream cheese in a thick layer onto the bread slices and cut bread into cubes. Layer in the bottom of a 9-inch square baking dish.
  • Whisk eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl until well combined. Pour over bread cubes and pat gently until bread is evenly soaked. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until eggs are cooked and fluffy, 35 to 45 minutes.

  • Butter bread and place butter-side down in 12x8" baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with about 2 tbsp milk.
  • Combine remaining milk, cheese, egg yolks, kirsch and seasonings; mix well.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff peak forms; fold into cheese and milk mixture.
  • Pour mixture over bread in baking dish.
