- Trim the a thin slice off the side of the whole, unpeeled onion. Set the onion flat on the cut surface for stability. Cut the onion into 4 (1-inch thick) slices. Remove the outer ring of skin from each slice. Drizzle the sliced onion with light colored oil and season both sides with steak seasoning or salt and pepper, to taste. Grill on hot grill or on a nonstick griddle for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until onion is tender and has begun to caramelize.
SEARED TUNA STEAKS WITH WASABI-GREEN ONION MAYONNAISE
Seared Tuna Steaks with Wasabi-Green Onion Mayonnaise

Steps:
- Whisk first 3 ingredients in small bowl to blend, adding more wasabi paste if desired. Cover and refrigerate.
- Whisk teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, and rice vinegar in small bowl to blend. Place tuna steaks in resealable plastic bag. Add teriyaki mixture; seal bag. Turn bag to coat. Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes, turning bag occasionally.
- Brush grill with vegetable oil. Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Drain tuna steaks. Grill tuna to desired doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium. Top each tuna steak with about 2 tablespoons wasabi mayonnaise and serve.
WASABI AND GREEN ONION MASHED POTATOES

- Bring potatoes to boil in large pot of water. Reduce heat to medium; cook until tender, about 17 minutes. Drain well.
- Meanwhile, bring cream, butter, and wasabi paste to simmer in small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until butter melts. Season with salt and pepper. Keep hot. Heat oil in small skillet over medium heat; add green onions and sauté until wilted, about 3 minutes. Set aside. Using potato masher in same large pot or ricer, mash potatoes. Stir in hot cream mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in green onions. DO AHEAD: Can be made 2 hours ahead. Let stand at room temperature. Rewarm in microwave, stirring occasionally.

CARAMELIZED ONION - BBQ
Great onions that go with anything that is grilled on the BBQ. A TV chef did this once and it has been a family faviorite since. Only problem is I have never measured ingredients - so adjust to suit your own taste! Also great on a sausage sandwich.

- Just prior to serving mix through brown sugar and balsamic vinegar until sugar dissolves and oniobs are "caramalised".

This is a very simple 3 ingredient BBQ side dish. I think this is an easy and excellent side dish for any BBQ meat. Hope you do too.

Steps:
- Use indirect heat.
- Peel outer layers of onion and slice off a section of one end of each onion (about 1/4 of onion) With a spoon scoop out a hole in the middle of each onion.
- Place bouillon cube in hole and add some butter.
- Replace top of onion and wrap in heavy foil.
- With a closed grill cook for 1 hour or until tender.
- Cut into bite size chunks and pour juices over top.

- Whisk 1/2 cup water and wasabi powder in medium bowl to form smooth paste. Whisk in soy sauce, 2 tablespoons peanut oil, Sherry, sesame oil and ginger. Stir in green onions. Set aside.
- Sprinkle tuna with salt and pepper. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon peanut oil in heavy large skillet over high heat. Add tuna and sear until opaque in center, about 3 minutes per side.
- Spoon cucumber onto center of plates. Top with tuna. Spoon sauce around. Garnish with radish sprouts.

- Slice or dice the amount of onions that you would normally use for the meal you are preparing.
- Heat some oil in a skillet, fry pan or on the barbeque, or just heat the pan (preferred method).
- Throw in the onions, add a teaspoon of Hot Wasabi paste per cup of onion.
- Stir the paste into the onions while they are cooking.
- Eventually the paste will disappear and cook the onions until they are at the point where you like them.
- Serve with whatever you like.
