Gotta-Have-It Garlic Bread image

Steps:

  • Preheat the broiler.
  • In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients until well combined. Cut the French loaf in half, lengthwise, and spread the butter mixture liberally on each half. Arrange on a sheet tray and broil until browned and toasty, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from the oven, slice and serve.

1/2 cup softened butter
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Pinch red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Pinch coarsely ground black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley leaves
Pinch kosher salt
1 large French loaf

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of water. Add sugar, oil, salt, rye or whole wheat flour, 3 cups all-purpose flour and remaining water; beat until smooth. Add enough remaining all-purpose flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Divide in half. On a greased baking sheet, flatten each half to 1-in. thickness. Pierce each loaf several times with a fork. Cover and let rise in a warm place until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes. , Bake at 375° for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Big Daddy's Sweet Corn Spoon Bread image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Combine the corn and eggs in blender and puree until thick and smooth. Transfer the puree to a bowl. Add the butter, sugar and milk and fold gently to incorporate well. Stir in the mozzarella cheese and bacon. Add the smoked paprika, cayenne, salt and pepper. The mixture should be thick and creamy.
  • Pour the corn mixture into a greased souffle dish and sprinkle with the Parmesan and parsley. Bake until browned, about 45 minutes. Let cool for about 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm.

2 1/2 cups corn kernels, fresh or frozen and thawed
5 eggs
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed small
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the milk, butter, sugar, salt and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a stiff dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into four portions. Cut one portion in half; shape into balls. Cut another portion into 14 pieces; shape into balls. Shape remaining two portions into balls. , To form bear body, place each large ball in the center of a greased baking sheet. Place a medium ball above body for head; flatten slightly. Place two small balls on each side of head for ears. Place one small balls in the center of head for nose, and four small balls around body for arms and legs. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour. , With a sharp knife or scissors, cut slits for ears, eyes, nose and belly button. Insert raisins into slits. Beat egg and cold water; brush over dough. , Bake at 375° for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool. If desired, tie a bow around bear's neck with ribbon.

This is a really yummy banana bread that the whole family loves. It is the best when warm, and microwaving it works fine to make it warm later on. This was my dad's recipe and it is the best!

Dad's Banana Bread image

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease bottom only of 9 by 5 or 8 by 4 inch loaf pan.
  • In large bowl, blend the first 6 ingredients; beat for 1 minute at medium speed.
  • Stir in remaining ingredient just until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • At 350 degrees, bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Cool for 5 minutes; remove from pan.
  • Cut into slices and enjoy! They are great with butter on top!

Steps:

  • Blend dry ingredients in Cuisinart until LJ counts to 30. While running add the remaining ingredients. Blend until it pulls away from sides/shaggy ball - may need to add 1TBSP more water. Let rise for an hour or so in warmish place. Dump onto floured work surface and knead into loaf shape. Put in greased loaf pan. Cover. Let rise about an hour more. Bake at 450 for 10min. Spray water on sides and/or bottom of oven. Turn oven down to 350 and bake 25min more. Instant read thermometer about 200 degrees

4c Bread Flour
1c Whole Wheat Flour
2tsp Salt
4.25 tsp Rapid Rise Yeast
1/4c Sugar
1c Water
1/2c EVOO
2 Eggs

J.P.'S BIG DADDY BISCUITS

This recipe will produce the biggest biscuits in the history of the world! Serve these gems with butter, preserves, honey, gravy or they can also be used as dinner rolls...you get the picture. The dough can also be prepared several hours, and up to a day ahead of time. If so, turn dough out onto aluminum foil that has been either floured, lightly buttered or lightly sprayed with cooking spray. Roll up foil until it is sealed, and refrigerate. Don't be surprised if your biscuits rise even higher because the baking powder has had more time to act in the dough. You may have to make a few batches before you get desired results: desired results equals huge mongo biscuits.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually stir in milk until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.
  • Turn out onto a floured surface, and knead 15 to 20 times. Pat or roll dough out to 1 inch thick. Cut biscuits with a large cutter or juice glass dipped in flour. Repeat until all dough is used. Brush off the excess flour, and place biscuits onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 13 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges begin to brown.
