BACON CHEESEBURGERS WITH FRY SAUCE

In Utah, fry sauce is the beloved condiment. We use it not just as a dip for fries, but also as a spread for hamburgers. Utah is known as the Beehive State, so I wanted to add honey as a special touch to my fry sauce. -Elisabeth Larsen, Pleasant Grove, Utah

Bacon Cheeseburgers with Fry Sauce image

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce, garlic, seasoned salt and pepper. Add beef; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 1/2-in.-thick patties., Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat until a thermometer reads 160°, 5-7 minutes on each side. Top with cheese; grill, covered, until cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes longer., Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar and honey; spread over cut sides of buns. Top bun bottoms with bacon, burgers, french-fried onions and, if desired, lettuce and tomato. Replace tops.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy image

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 8 balls, and flatten into patties.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties and onion in the oil until patties are nicely browned, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the beef patties to a plate, and keep warm.
  • Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet. Stir in flour with a fork, scraping bits of beef off of the bottom as you stir. Gradually mix in the beef broth and sherry. Season with seasoned salt. Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for another 15 minutes.

This is a ground beef casserole that gets a little pizzaz by using cream cheese, but it is kept basic by the biscuit topping. This is quick and easy, especially if you use refrigerated biscuits. I prefer to use homemade or Mary B's frozen biscuits, thawed....I just don't like refrigerated biscuits. But to make this quick and easy, I've included it in the ingredient list.

Dressed-Up Ground Beef image

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef, onion, and garlic in a large skillet, stirring until meat crumbles; drain and set aside.
  • Combine soup and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well. Add reserved ground beef misture and stir well. Place in a lightly greased 2 quart casserole. Bake uncovered in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes.
  • Place biscuits on top of ground beef mixture. Bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until biscuits are done.

  • Mix beef, chili sauce, egg, corn flakes, green pepper, salt and pepper; mix well. Shape into 4 individual serving size balls. Wrap 1 slice of bacon around each ball and secure with a toothpick.
