MOM'S BAKING POWDER BISCUITS
This is the recipe my mom always made. I like to use the butter flavored shortening, but you can use regular. Amount of biscuits you get depends on how big around you make them and the thickness. My daughter likes me to make smaller ones.

MOM'S EASY HOMEMADE BISCUITS
Momma usually cooked biscuits three times a day when she wasn't working outside our home. Daddy was a farmer, worked hard, loved biscuits and hated cornbread! I sure miss the "good old days" around the farm.

Steps:
- Grease baking pan or iron skillet with shortening. Mix flour, shortening and milk to the right consistency - add milk or flour whichever is needed. Drop by heaping tablespoons on greased pan. Use wet fingers to pat smooth the top of each biscuit. Bake 475 for 10 to 15 minutes. Check for doneness at 10 minutes since ovens vary. Serve hot with your favorite butter and jelly.
- Years ago my mom used a wooden carved out bread bowl. She used the bread bowl to mix biscuits with her hands, forming the biscuits by hand and baking them in an iron skillet. She used extra flour or water on her hands to keep them from sticking to her hands.
MOM'S HOMEMADE BISCUITS
My mom made these when I was growing up by just throwing everything into a bowl with no measuring. We liked them so much that we all needed the recipe so after several tries this is her recipe and they are great. Very delicate biscuit, do not roll with rolling pin just flour board and use hands to press dough out about 1 inch thick and then cut .

- Note: Do not roll out with rolling pin as that will make for harder biscuits.

- Preheat the oven to 425°. Spray an 8-inch or 9-inch round pan with a light coat of cooking spray and set aside.
- Place flour in a large bowl. Use a pastry cutter or forks to work the butter into the flour until the lumps are about the size of large peas. Alternatively, you can freeze the butter and use a grater to grate the butter into the flour.
- Add ⅔ cup of buttermilk, and use a wooden spoon or spatula to stir until a soft dough forms. Add small amounts of additional buttermilk slowly, as needed, until the dough reaches this consistency.
- Flour a work surface. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 1 minute (folding the dough back over on itself), adding flour to the counter and your hands, as necessary, to prevent sticking. Pat to ¾-inch thickness.
