  • In a large skillet, melt butter. Add the celery, mushrooms and onion; saute until tender. Stir in the seasonings. Place bread cubes in a large bowl. Stir in vegetable mixture. Add broth; toss to coat., Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker coated with cooking spray. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until heated through.

Steps:

  • Place the cheese, mayonnaise, heavy cream, vinegar, salt and pepper in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a steel blade and process until smooth.
  • Place a wedge of lettuce on each serving plate. Pour enough dressing over the lettuce to moisten. Serve immediately.

This was the house dressing at The Plantation restaurant in Moline, Illinois. It is no longer around, but many around here still remember this fabulous dressing. I can't say this is the exact recipe they used, but it is very close if not exact. It is similar to a creamy garlic, but with the added punch of anchovy paste.
