Steps:
- 1. Pick through beans for debris, and other foreign particles, then wash & drain.
- 2. Add the beans to a medium size pot, Add in the celery, onions, garlic, ham and spices. Add enough water or chicken broth to cover beans. Cover with a tight fitting lid, and bring to a boil. Skim off any accumulated foam. Lower heat so beans will simmer. Proceed to cook on medium high until beans are tender.
- 3. Check pot periodically to make sure beans are still covered with liquid, and replenish as needed. Continue cooking until beans are tender or as desired. Stirring occasionally I cooked mine about 1 1/2 hours. Taste and adjust seasoning if desired.
- 4. Serve as desired.
- 5. I served mine with a skillet of Southern Style Corn Bread. I enjoyed every morsel.
SWEET TEA
Steps:
- Bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat, pour into a pitcher, and steep the tea bags about 5 minutes. Mix the sugar mixture into the iced tea. Mix well.
- Pour the drink mix over ice cubes in a glass. Garnish with 2 slices of lemon and a sprig of mint.
- Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add sugar. Stir to combine.
CHAI COCONUT TEA
Steps:
- Open the tea bags and pour the tea into a small bowl. Add the coconut chips, ginger flakes, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and vanilla and toss together.
- To use, steep 1 tablespoon of the mixture in boiling water and enjoy.
TAILGATE SWEET TEA
Steps:
- Combine all of the tea ingredients to a large pot over medium heat. The baking soda will darken the syrup and reduce the bitterness. Bring the mixture to a boil stirring to dissolve the sugar and extracting as much tea as possible. Once the mixture is boiling, remove the pot from the heat and let steep until cooled. Remove and discard the tea bags and reserve the sweet tea syrup.
- In a large container combine the sweet tea syrup and add water, to taste. Add remaining ingredients, bourbon, peach schnapps and lemon juice, also to desired taste.
SWEET TEA
Steps:
- Fill the teakettle or saucepan with enough water to completely cover the tea bags, about 2 cups. Bring to a boil and remove from the heat. Let the tea stand for 10 minutes. Put the sugar into a gallon pitcher and add 1 cup cold water. Stir to mix slightly. Pour the hot tea into the sugar mixture and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add 13 cups water to fill the pitcher.
