SPICED TURKISH COFFEE SMOOTHIE

Spice up your morning routine with a flavorful smoothie made with freshly brewed coffee, banana, Medjool dates, and the secret to every great Turkish-style coffee-cardamom.

Spiced Turkish Coffee Smoothie image

Steps:

  • In the Braun PureMix Jug Blender, combine banana, date, coffee, milk, ice, and cardamom and blend until smooth. Sprinkle with bee pollen and enjoy.

1 banana, frozen
1 Medjool date, pitted
1/2 cup coffee, cooled to room temperature
1/2 cup milk or almond milk
1/2 cup ice
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
bee pollen, for serving

Steps:

  • Combine the spices in a spice mill or clean coffee grinder and grind to a powder. Store in an air-tight container.

3 tablespoons allspice berries
2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns
2 teaspoons fennel seeds
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
2 teaspoons coriander seeds
1-inch piece of cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon cloves

Turkish coffee sour image

Steps:

  • Put the coffee grounds in a pan with 250ml water. Add the cardamom pods, lemon peel, cloves and cinnamon stick. Bring to the boil, then strain though a sieve lined with 2 pieces of kitchen paper. Leave to cool.
  • Pour 50ml of the coffee mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice then add the egg white, spiced rum and lemon juice. Shake hard for 1-2 mins then double strain into 2 coupe or martini glasses. Decorate with another cardamom pod and a few drops of Angostura bitters if you like.

  • Pour ground coffee and cardamom into the pitcher of the french press, with the lid and plunger off. Set aside.
  • Bring to a boil 5 ½ cups water in a tea pot or sauce pan. Once boiling, remove from heat and let cool for 30 seconds.
  • Pour ½ of the water into the french press pitcher with coffee grounds at bottom. Wait 30 seconds and stir the water and coffee grounds a little with a spoon. Pour the rest of the hot water into the pitcher, and place the lid with the plunger all the way up on the pitcher. Leave the plunger up and let the pitcher sit for 4 to 5 minutes.
