SPICY VELVEETA PIZZA PIE

Who doesn't love pizza? Especially the kids! Try this fast and easy recipe and knock their socks off! If you prefer, you could experiment with different types of cheese; for instance, substitute shredded mozarella or cheddar for the Velveeta. Recipe & photo: kraftrecipes.com 02-10-15

SPICY VELVEETA PIZZA PIE image

Steps:

  • Drain tomatoes, reserving liquid. Brown meat in medium skillet, adding reserved liquid from tomatoes for the last 5 minutes; drain. Return meat to skillet; stir in half the cheese sauce.
  • Unroll pizza dough; cut in half. Press half the dough into bottom and up side of a 9-inch pie plate. Spread meat onto bottom crust. Top with tomatoes and half the remaining cheese sauce.
  • Roll out remaining dough to 9-inch circle; place over pie. Seal edges with fork.
  • Bake in a preheated 400º oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Top with lettuce and remaining cheese sauce.

1 can(s) (11 oz.) refrigerated thin crust pizza dough

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Brown meat in large skillet on medium heat; drain. Return meat to skillet. Add onions; cook 2 to 3 min. until crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Add next 3 ingredients; mix well. Spoon into 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • Melt butter in small saucepan on low heat. Add flour; whisk until blended. Cook 2 min. or until hot and bubbly, stirring constantly. Gradually stir in water; cook and stir on medium heat until mixture boils and thickens. Simmer on low heat 5 min., stirring occasionally. Pour over meat mixture.
