SWEET AND SPICY NORI STRIPS

Sweet and Spicy Nori Strips image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Line baking sheets with foil or parchment.
  • Combine rice syrup and both sesame oils in a small bowl, whisk to blend.
  • Stir in cayenne.
  • Tear each nori strip into 3 strips.
  • Place strips on prepared baking sheets.
  • Using pastry brush, thickly coat each strip w/ sesame-syrup mixture (whisk mixture occasionally).
  • Sprinkle each strip with salt.
  • Bake 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let stand for 10 minutes to crisp.
  • brush each strip again with the sesame-syrup mixture and sprinkle with salt.
  • Bake another 10 minutes; remove and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Break each strip in 2 to serve.

1 tablespoon dark sesame oil
1/3 teaspoon cayenne

Noni was a tiny little lady from home, she was my Grandma's best friend for 80+ years. She made the best chocolate cake with this thick sweet icing. She used make it at the lake every summer in the old wood stove.

Noni's Sour Cream Chocolate Cake With Brown Sugar Icing image

Steps:

  • Mix ingredients together.
  • Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan.
  • Bake in 9 x 13 pan in a 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes.
  • For Brown Sugar Icing: In saucepan, add brown sugar, butter and whipping cream. Bring to a boil.
  • Boil 1 Minute.
  • Add 1 tsp Vanilla.
  • Beat with mixer until cooled.
  • Spread on cooled chocolate cake.
  • Prep and cooking times include icing as well.
