Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
  • Combine first 6 ingredients in food processor and blend.
  • Add butter and cut in, using pulse, until fine meal forms.
  • Transfer to large bowl, mix in cheese.
  • (Can be prepared 4 hours ahead, cover and chill).
  • Mix enough buttermilk into flour mixture to bind dough.
  • Turn out onto floured surface and knead gently until combined, about 10 turns.
  • Pat out dough to 3/4" thickness.
  • Using 3" biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits.
  • Gather scraps, pat out to 3/4" thickness and cut additional biscuits.
  • Transfer biscuits to ungreased baking sheet.
  • Brush biscuits with egg glaze and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  • Bake until golden brown and firm to touch, about 18 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
  • Makes about 10 biscuits.

Steps:

  • Position a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat to 425 degrees. Lightly mist a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Make the biscuits: Pulse the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a food processor. Add the shortening and pulse until combined. Add the butter; pulse 4 or 5 times, or until the butter is in pea-size pieces. Add the cheese and pulse 2 or 3 times. Pour in the milk and pulse just until the mixture is moistened and forms a shaggy dough. Turn out onto a clean surface and gently knead until the dough comes together. Do not overwork the dough or the biscuits will be tough.
  • Drop the dough onto the baking sheet in scant 1/4-cup portions, 2 inches apart, and bake until golden, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, make the garlic butter: Melt the butter with the garlic in a small saucepan over medium heat; cook for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and stir in the parsley. Brush the biscuits with the garlic butter and serve warm.

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment.
  • Pulse the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a food processor until combined. Add the butter and 1/2 cup of the Cheddar and pulse until the mixture looks like coarse meal with pea-size bits of butter remaining. Add the buttermilk and pulse a few times, until the dough just comes together.
  • Turn the dough out onto a work surface that's lightly dusted with flour, then pat into a 7-by-7-inch square that's about 1 inch thick. Scatter half of the ham and 1/4 cup of the Cheddar on half of the dough, then fold the other half of dough over like a book; gently pinch the edges to seal.   • Place 2 cups of flour, the baking powder, and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. With the mixer on low, add the butter and mix until the butter is the size of peas.
  • Combine the buttermilk and egg in a small measuring cup and beat lightly with a fork.   • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Add the flour, powdered milk, cream cheese, butter, sugar, baking powder and salt to a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and mix on low speed until the flour resembles coarse cornmeal. With the mixer running, slowly add the buttermilk and mix until a dough forms. Increase the speed to medium and mix until the dough starts to stick to the sides of the mixing bowl. Stop the mixer.
  • Add the Cheddar and mix on low speed until incorporated, about 10 seconds. (You don't want to break up the cheese.)
  • Place the dough on a floured rolling surface and knead it 25 times, until the dough is soft and doesn't stick to your hands or the board. Roll out the dough to 3/4-inch thickness and cut out 36 biscuits with a biscuit cutter, transferring the biscuits to the prepared baking sheets.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Measure dry ingredients into food processor and pulse until well combined. Add cheese and cut butter and cream cheese into small chunks and distribute throughout processor bowl.
  • Hit pulse about 10 times for 1-2 seconds each pulse until course crumbs develop.
  • Pour milk through feed tube in a slow stream while pulsing until cohesive but crumbly dough forms.
  • Turn dough onto floured surface and gently squeeze it into a ball. Flatten and gently shape into an 8 by 8 inch square. Cut into 16 even squares.
  • Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 15-18 minutes until lightly browned.

  • In a large bowl, combine the Bisquick and butter until crumbly.
  • Add the milk, dried parsley and shredded cheddar and mix to combine. The dough will be sticky.
  • Take a handful of dough, flatten, and place a cube of cheese in the middle. Roll the dough around the cube of cheese. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and repeat with the remaining dough and cheese.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  • While the biscuits are baking, make the butter topping. Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and Old Bay seasoning.
  • Once the biscuits are done baking, brush the butter topping over each biscuit.
  • Enjoy!
