When you order 'tea' in TX you will be asked 'sweet' or 'unsweet'. It will then arrive in a big glass with lots of ice! Here is the way we make 'Swayte Tay" or Sweet Tea! Oh soo goooodd! Dont like it sweet- just leave out the sugar- or splenda.

Sweet Iced Tea image

Steps:

  • Put water and tea bags in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and cover. Let steep for 10 minutes.
  • Strain or carefully press water from tea bags.
  • Put hot tea solution into a gallon pitcher and add sweetener, stirring to dissolve.
  • Add water to pitcher to fill.
  • Cool in refrigerator and serve with ice.

A fresh, peachy sweet tea that's perfect for hot summer days. I am definitely NOT a fan of sweet or flavored tea, but I came up with this concoction on accident, and LOVE it. Remember, the amount of alcohol you want to use is up to personal taste. I personally use a little more vodka than peach schnapps. I just like a touch of the peach flavoring.

Sweet Potato and Chickpea Masala image

Steps:

  • Melt ghee with oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute ginger and garlic in the ghee mixture until aromatic and lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add onion; continue to saute until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes more.
  • Mix curry powder, cumin, coriander, chili powder, garam masala, and turmeric together in a bowl; add to the skillet and stir. Stir enough water into the skillet to get the mixture to be paste-like; cook to let the flavors intensify for about 30 seconds.
  • Stir sweet potato, chickpeas, 1 cup water, and salt into the mixture in the skillet; cook at a simmer until the sweet potato is just tender, about 10 minutes. Thin the mixture with more water if too thick.
  • Stir tomatoes into the sweet potato mixture, bring to a boil, and cook until the liquid reduces to a thick gravy, about 5 minutes. Garnish with cilantro.

  • Make the tea in a 3 or 4 quart pitcher (or iced tea pot). Set aside.
  • Pour peaches and water into a blender.
  • Blend on high speed until well blended.
  • Add sugar and blend for a few more seconds.
  • Add more water until there is 1 quart.
  • Blend for a few seconds-- pulse.

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over high heat. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the tea bags. Allow the liquid to cool to room temperature, about 1 hour. Remove the tea bags and discard. Add the Vanilla Simple Syrup and stir. Pour the mixture into a glass pitcher. Add the apple and lemon slices and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Pour the tea into ice-filled glasses and serve.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, vanilla bean, and vanilla bean seeds. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool, about 20 minutes.   • In a 3qt stock pot, combine the tea bags, water and sugar.
  • Brew on med-low heat.
  • Open the canned peaches, and drain the syrup into the pot.
