SKILLET STUFFED CABBAGE

In the mood for stuffed cabbage was not in the mood for waiting on them to get done, so I improvised!

Steps:

  • 1. In large skillet, saute onion with butter, when onions become clear add ground meat to skillet seasoning with cajun seasoning. When meat is browned stir in cooked rice, topped with cabbage, can of Rotel tomatoes and water. Cover and cook on medium low heat for 25 - 30 minutes, until cabbage is tender.

1 lb ground beef
1 small onion chopped
1 Tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp cajun seasoning
2 c rice, cooked
1 can(s) rotel tomatoes
1/2 c water
2 c cabbage, shredded

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet; add cabbage and green pepper and toss to coat. Stir in water, salt and pepper. Cover; simmer until cabbage is tender, 8-10 minutes. Add cream cheese; stir until melted.

  • Brown meat with onions in large deep nonstick skillet or Dutch oven.
  • Add tomatoes and dressing mix; mix well. Stir in cabbage. Cover; simmer on medium-low heat 20 to 25 min. or until tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in water and rice; bring to boil. Simmer, covered, on low heat 5 min. Remove from heat; stir. Let stand, covered, 5 min. before serving.

Steps:

  • In a 4 or 5-quart saucepot, cook ground beef and onion over medium-high heat, stirring frequently for 5 minutes or until beef is cooked through, drain any fat.
  • Stir in rice mix, water and allspice.
  • Bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat to low.
  • Cover and simmer 10 minutes; stir.
  • Top with shredded cabbage and press down gently.
  • Pour spaghetti sauce over cabbage.
  • Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until cabbage is just tender.

'Unstuffed' Cabbage with a Kick image

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground turkey in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Transfer cooked turkey to a bowl.
  • Heat olive oil in the skillet over medium heat; saute onion in hot oil until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic to onion; saute until fragrant, about 1 minute.
